Fireworks were much more of a spectacle to me as a kid. From simply lighting firecrackers, to warring with bottle rockets, we loved the noise & fun they created. My brother, however, did not like the noise or the feeling of the firecracker that I lit between his legs as he was busy lighting one of his own! And I did not like the noise or the feeling of what happened to me as a result of my little joke.

Saturdays brought mixed feelings. The thought of no school was good, but the thought of cleaning the barn wasn't. Dad would pull the manure spreader up to the door and we would all grab a pitch fork. Thankfully, our cousins never figured it out when we would invite them over to spend Friday night.
